This fragrance smells nothing like basil. It smells like a mix between aniseed and plastic. A family member commented that she thought it smelled like adhesive. I purchased it as gift for someone who LOVES the smell of basil, but was left racing to find a replacement gift once I got a whiff. If you want to small like licorice, this might be for you. If you are looking for a herbal/basil scent you should look elsewhere.
